Does Healthcare Rep Academy guarantee employment for someone who pass either the MRC or PSC Certification?

We can not guarantee employment to any graduate as you will need to interview with companies to get a job offer. We are not involved with that. Our purpose is to train you for a career in Medial Sales or Pharmaceutical Sales. Just like if you were a YALE graduate with honors that university can not guarantee you employment either.

Although a majority of our graduates do end up in the industry that time frame from certification completion to finally starting work can vary from a few weeks to a few months. Our industry programs prepare you to meet basic job requirements and to give an individual the skills it takes to be successful as Medical Sales Rep or Pharmaceutical Sales Rep.

Does the Healthcare Rep Academy have a placement service?

The Healthcare Rep Academy does provide job listing in our Career Page where you can click on the top 50 Medical or top 50 Pharmaceutical companies and easily apply for Sales Rep jobs in your local area. We also provide proven job search tips from other candidates and what they did to quickly break into these respected careers.

Do I need prior sales experience to work in either Medical Sales or for a career in Pharmaceutical Sales?

No, at the Healthcare Rep Academy we train all candidates from various backgrounds. We have success with individuals right out of college and with those who have 20 years of Sales experience in a different industry. Each company has a different agenda on who they want to hire so we have seen all different types of candidates enter this career choice. They main reason our candidates have an advantage, no matter what their background, is that they have acquired medical/pharmaceutical product training and other vital training required that both the MRC or the PSC Certification covers. If someone has a successful sales background by all means be exploit it. But make sure you show that you have the industry training to work in either Medical Sales or Pharmaceutical Sales. Familiarity with sales may help, but the Medical or Pharmaceutical Representative role is more about being a good communicator and responsive partner to the physicians you work with. If you feel comfortable connecting with people and helping them understand complex medical clinical information, then you’ll be successful.

What is the difference between Medical Sales and Pharmaceutical Sales?

Pharmaceutical Sales Reps talk to physicians or other healthcare providers about the clinical research and Pharmacodynamics as well as Pharmacogenetics behind their products. Pharmaceutical Reps will drop off pharmaceutical samples and educational materials, bring lunches but sales aren’t made until that prescription pad is filled out. That means income for these reps depends entirely on a doctor following through on a promise that your product will be prescribed.

Medical device sales isn’t a set-it-and-forget-it sales field, Medical Sales Reps can rely on that initial agreement. Rather than receiving non-contract promises that a customer will eventually sell a medical device or supply product, medical device sales reps close deals in the moment and immediately receive credit for the sale.

Money is a major factor in both sales positions. Both Medical Sales and Pharmaceutical Reps are known for bringing in large paychecks. That isn’t achieved, though without persistence and positive relationship skills. Medical device sales reps have grit but they don’t need to continue striving for a sale once an agreement has been reached.

Whether you prefer to sell medical devices or pharmaceuticals, both specialties play a big role in getting new medications, supplies, and devices in the hands of doctors and hospitals nationwide. Without this crucial sales force, medical experts would not be made aware of these life saving medications or devices until it’s too late. Although both fields have their differences, they have one thing in common: saving lives and helping people live healthier lives.
